Split PDF
Split a PDF into separate files, for free
Split PDF separates a PDF into several files, for free, right in your browser. Turn every page into its own PDF, type the page ranges you want, or start a new file every few pages. Several files come in one ZIP.
How to split a PDF
- 1Choose the PDF you want to split, or drop it onto the box.
- 2Pick how to split it: Every page, Custom ranges (for example 1-3, 4-6, 7-), or Every few pages.
- 3Check the previews: the first page of each new file is marked, so you can see where each one starts.
- 4Click Split PDF and download the ZIP with your files (or the PDF itself, when there's only one).
Three ways to split
Every page makes one PDF per page: a 10-page file becomes 10 files, named after the original with the page number added. Custom ranges makes exactly the files you type, separated by commas: 1-3 is pages 1 to 3, 5 is page 5 on its own, and 8- means page 8 to the end. Pages left out of every range aren't included, and they're dimmed in the preview so you can see it. Every few pages cuts the document into equal parts, for example a new file every 2 pages for double-sided forms.
To pull out just a few pages, type them as one range, such as 4-7, and you'll get a single PDF with only those pages.
Every page stays as it was
Splitting copies the pages without changing them, so text stays sharp and searchable and pictures keep their quality. Each new file contains only what its pages need, so the parts are usually much smaller than the original.
Common uses: sending one chapter instead of a whole book, separating scanned documents that were scanned together, splitting a bank statement by month, or getting single pages for a form.
Free, with no sign-up
Split files up to 1 GB, as often as you like, with no account and no watermark. The splitting happens in your browser, so it's quick even for long documents. If you'd rather drag pages around or delete a few before splitting, use the Organize or Delete pages tab first: your PDF stays open between tabs.
Split PDF: questions
How do I extract pages from a PDF?
Choose Custom ranges and type the pages you want, for example 3-5 or 2, 7, 9. One range makes one PDF with only those pages.
What do the range numbers mean?
1-3 is pages 1 to 3, 5 is page 5 alone, 8- is page 8 to the end, and -4 is the first 4 pages. Separate files with commas.
Why do I get a ZIP file?
When a split makes more than one file, they're put in one ZIP so you can download them together. A single file downloads as a PDF.
Does splitting reduce the quality?
No. Pages are copied as they are.
Is Split PDF free?
Yes, with no sign-up and no watermark.
